Canada Day in Summerside brings thousands of islanders to the City for a day of fun and entertainment. Every year Green’s Shore Park is filled with food vendors, games and entertainment for all to enjoy. With a free live concert going late into the evening, it is then immediately followed up by fireworks going off above the water. Resonate XM was contracted by The City of Summerside to help in all areas of Summerside Canada Day 2024. Development, planning, management, operations and sponsorships, to name a few.
Leading up to Canada Day, Summerside was hit with a large amount of rain, so much so that the park became completely flooded just days before the event. After the city tried to manage the water, the ground remained very wet and soft. It became clear that the event would not be able to go forward at Green’s Shore Park. The venue had to change only days before the event.
The RXM Team and the City decided to change the venue to Spinnakers Landing and we were forced to adapt everything to this new location. We worked hard leading up to, and on the day of the event to make sure everything went smoothly. A new site plan was developed. Permits for the new location were attained. New locations for the artists’ green room, the stage, bouncy castles, and food vendors were all managed. The day had plenty of hiccups as well, but we remained committed and solved each problem as it came by. For example, the bouncy castles didn’t have enough power to be blown up so a favour was called in to bring a generator that would adequately provide enough power. The new location turned out to be a huge hit and the City plans for Spinnakers Landing to be the new Canada Day location going forward.
Resonate XM has decades of experience working events so when problems arise there is no panic and the team immediately begins working on solving the issue. We know that no event ever goes exactly as planned so being ready when something happens is what’s important.
